Let me backtrack a bit on the timeline. I had just had my winter tires installed on Wednesday (it's Canada, gotta be early with that stuff!), and figured I was nice n safe. Headed downtown to record for a client, all went exceptionally well there (ignoring the fact that George Dubya was in town for who-knows-what, and I had a massive detour to get where I had to be...). Heading home, it was just before rush hour, so I figured I had plenty of time to get to home before the kidlets. Got into some traffic at one point, it cleared, a bit more up ahead, that too cleared. Approaching the bridge, it started to pour. The truck in front of me slammed his brakes on for no apparent reason, I slammed mine on, and joy of joys....discovered that winter tires aren't so great on a slick rainy surface. That's when my front grill and hood were crushed by the truck's butt. Lovely. The guy tried to leave the scene, too. NICE. Anyway, I'm fine, the car's not terribly ruined or anything, just crumpled. Insurance adjuster will be here in about an hour, then my car goes to the dealership for body work. Luckily I have a really low deductible, and a car rental allowance. So there you have it. |
